Well, Fenway lived up to all of its expectations, and
more! We started off the day with delicious burgers at Eagle's
Deli, a place known for its 5 pound burgers. After getting stuck
on the road in a Memorial Day parade, we finally made it to the Beacon
Hill area of Boston, to meet our friend Ajay. We showered, and
got ready for the game, and then headed on the T [subway] to Fenway
Park for our on field interview! After
exploring the outside area for some time, we went to gate D to get our
media credentials. We were greeted by Jillian LaFlam, a producer
for the show "Red Sox Stories," and a camera man. They took us
on the field for the Red Sox's private batting practice. We
walked around the field, and were allowed anywhere on the dirt
perimeter from 1st base to 3rd base. It was a really pristine
day, and a memorable experience for us both. We were literally a
few feet from all of the players. Both Neal and Alon got a
batting practice ball, and we even both got an autograph from Trot
Nixon [it was his first game back in Boston after leaving for
Cleveland].
We then went to some seats and sat down for an
interview for the show. Our story will air on UPN 38 on June
10th, at 10:30 PM [only aired in New England]. The camera man
also took footage of us on the field, and in our seats during the
game. We're excited to see the show!
The game itself was very exciting: Youkilis hit a
rare inside the park home run, and Manny hit a rocket off the seats
over the Green Monster. Schilling pitched a gem, 10 Ks over 7
innings, 0 walks and 1 run. Our actual seats were in right
field, behind a pole [obstructed view]. Alon got heckled a lot
for wearing his Yankee hat. We debuted our "road trip" sign, and got a
lot of good feedback. The area outside of Fenway is festive;
street entertainers, a lot of bars, and many people walking around and
having a good time. What a wonderful day! |
