Today, we were off to see our
favorite team, then New York Yankees, and the fact that they were
playing their arch rival, the Boston Red Sox made it that much more
exciting. We both arrived at Yankee Stadium slightly after the Yanks
started batting practice. Neal was very close to catching a ball but
it was just out of his reach. We made our way to the upper deck and
took our usual pictures of the field and of us with the field and we
met some great Yankee fans along the way.
After that, we made our way to the
lower deck (our tickets were in the upper deck) to watch the game.
The Red Sox went to work early and jumped out to a 3 - 0 lead off of
Mike Mussina, thanks in part to Manny Ramirez’s 2 run Home Run.
Mussina then settled down about, and held the Red Sox scoreless for
the 2nd and 3rd inning, however, the Yankees
bats were ice cold as they were held hitless through the first three
innings. The Red Sox added another run in the 4th inning
and we were starting to get uneasy but the Yanks stormed right back
and got a run back to make it 4 -1 after 2 hits and a wild pitch.
After adding another run in the fifth, the Yankees appeared to getting
in the game, but then the Red Sox blew it open in the 7th,
scoring 3 runs making it a 7 -2 game.
We were pretty disgruntled at that
point. The fans at Yankee stadium are amazing. We are very excited
to see how other stadiums feel. We tried to rate them fairly, but it
was hard, check out our
stats page.
Growing up in the house that Ruth built, we might be spoiled by the
enthusiasm and pride that Yankee fans have for their team. Only the
Red Sox can rival this spirit… and we will find out, this Monday, when
we get to go on the field during batting practice at Fenway Park! See
you there…
