On June 7th, Alon got a haircut on Devon Ave. by a
gentleman named Joe. He has been there for 43 years. After
packing up our stuff, we said goodbye to Ben for the second time, and
headed off to Ann Arbor, Michigan. Here, we were met by our good
friend Evan, who we went to high school with. We experienced
some summer UMich night life, and even got some great home cooked food
by Evan's friend, who cooked a fish that he caught from a nearby lake.
After a late wake up and a visit to the Detroit MGM
Grand Casino, we were off to Comerica Park for the Tigers game.
Outside of Comerica, there are numerous tiger statues, two huge
bats, and a lot of cool decorations. The inside of the park has
a fountain, two tiger statues on the scoreboard, an interestingly
shaped infield dirt, a kids area with a ferris wheel and merry go
round, huge dimensions, and a great view of the downtown. The
game lasted just over 2 hours, as the Tigers couldn't touch the Mets'
pitcher, Jorge Sosa. Getting 3 runs on two big shots by Delgado
and Wright, they finished the Tigers off by a stellar Billy Wagner
ninth inning. We thank the Tigers for providing us with great
seats, 3rd row behind 3rd base, and also for an entertaining magic
show and fireworks show following the very short game.
After the fireworks show, we got in the car and
drove towards Louiseville. It was the first night where we had
to sleep at a random motel along the road. We thank all of our
friends who provided us with great housing during these first 11 days,
and also to everyone who has donated to our
charity,
including our good friend Josh Tamaroff.
We have raised over $2,300, and that number will keep growing with
more donations and more home runs! See you tomorrow at the
Louiseville Slugger Factory, Churchill Downs, and a game at
Cincinati's Great American Ballpark! |
