Today, we started the day with breakfast at Beth's Cafe, which
featured the famous 12 egg omelet. Alon ordered a 6 egg omelet,
and only ate about half, while Neal finished an entire 12 egg omelet.
This was our 4th stop at one of the "Top 10 Places to Pig Out,"
according to the Travel Channel. After breakfast, we headed down
to the Space Needle.
We felt the $16 admission charge was a bit steep, as
this was the shortest of the "towers" we will visit this trip.
Built for a World's Fair, and standing at around 600 feet, the
observation deck [502 ft.] of the space needle provided us with a nice
view of the city. Mt. Rainier can be seen behind the stadiums,
and to the right of the skyscrapers. While on top, we got a call
from a Seattle radio station, asking to interview us about the trip.
Conveniently, they were located right below the needle [we saw their
building from the top]. So, after we came down, we went to the
station to have an interview.
After this, we walked to Pike Place Fish Market.
We saw them throw a few fish, and it was a really festive environment.
The first Starbucks ever was just around the corner, and we also paid
it a visit. We then went back to the car and headed to Mt.
Rainier, which was about a 3 hour drive. We got a great view of
the mountain peak, as no clouds were covering it that day.
Though the road was closed that led to the main part of the park, we
were content with the view we got of the mountain, and also with a
quick look at a fox crossing the road.
After this, we drove to Portland Oregon to have
dinner with Alon's friend Ken and his family. We were warmly
received, and Ken's mom cooked a great meal! After saying our
goodbyes, we were off to Eugene Oregon to stay with Alon's friend Zack
at the University of Oregon. Zack took us out to some local
bars, and we had a great time. See you tomorrow at Crater Lake
National Park! |
