After waking up in our tent, we drove to Vancouver
again for a sushi lunch [the fish is really good here!]. We had
a very nice lunch in the downtown area, and then headed off to
America! We got across the border after a few minutes of
questioning, and we were glad to be home! Another 2 hours and we
were in Seattle. We parked downtown, and walked about 20 minutes
to Safeco Field. On the way, we got $15 tickets from two
scalpers, and then headed towards the gates. Neal's ticket
worked, but Alon's did not! So, after being
rejected at the gate, a lady heard what happened and offered Alon her
extra ticket for free, which happened to be 20 rows behind 1st base!
It was a great stroke of luck. At the home plate gate, there is
a huge chandelier made of about 100 glass baseball bats, which is
awesome. After getting in the field, we went around the park to
get a few different perspectives. Safeco has a standing area in
dead center, which offers mostly a younger crowd an interesting view
of the action. In addition, there is a fence directly on the
bullpens which allow fans to get an amazing view of the pitchers
warming up.
The game started off very sloppy, with Felix
Hernandez loading the bases in the 1st. Luckily, he only gave up
one run. Then, the Red Sox pitcher, who just came up from AAA
walked 4 and hit 1 batter in the first, and let off 3 runs. The
pitching wasn't too great, but this helped us see 3 home runs in a
classic pitchers ballpark. Boston came back a few times during
the game, but the M's managed to hold on to the lead and end up
victorious. After the game, we went to a campground south of the
city, and slept there for the night. |
