After waking up late in my cabin, I headed back towards
Jasper for some lunch. I ate at a local pizza place and then
headed towards Maligne Lake, the "most visited place in Jasper,"
according to a guide I found in the restaurant. I got another
quick look at a bear on the road down to the lake. The lake
itself was very long and narrow, and surrounded by snow covered peaks.
What set it apart, however, was the amazing reflection it had of the
surrounding mountains and trees. I waited for a few minutes
until the water was calm, in order to take a reflection picture.
After leaving the Lake, I glanced to my right on the
road and saw a small pond that almost looked like a mirror. I
turned the car around and climbed down some 20 meters of forest to get
to the banks of this pond. The sight was truly amazing, and I
was able to get some really cool pictures of this real "mirror" lake.
After this last stop, I was ready to head down to
Kamloops. Before getting there, I saw another 3 bears on the
highway. One of them, a black bear cub, stayed about 5 feet from
my car for a good 5 minutes, giving me the opportunity to finally get
some amazing pictures and video of a bear! My next stop gave me
the opportunity to take some amazing pictures of British Columbia
wildflowers. I was in a field with about 9 varieties of flower,
which was really cool. Finally, I arrived in Kamloops, BC at
about 9:30 [I gained an hour, into Pacific time], and stopped for the
night at a motel. Tomorrow, I will head down to Vancouver, and
spend the night! See you there. |
