Today, we started going north through Iowa. We
decided to take a detour through the state capitol, Des Moines, to
have some lunch. We parked near the capitol building, in order
to take some quick pictures before heading to Minneapolis. We
went to the Mall of America, the largest mall in the USA. It is
a very nice place, and we both had a great time walking around the
amusement park. We even went to an area with legos, build race
cars and raced them down a ramp. It was us playing with kids
aged 1 to 5, but still a lot of fun! After
leaving the mall, we drove to the HHH Metrodome, for the Twins game
against the Braves. We were glad to hear that it was $4/ticket
student night, in addition to $1 hot dog night! The only bad
thing about this was that with the $4 ticket, we weren't able to go to
the lower level. Also, Alon got a huge hot dog instead of one of
the $1 ones, but we both enjoyed the food very much. The
Metrodome is pressurized, circular, and pretty boring. There
aren't many defining features, besides the dome, home run porch, and
different fence heights.
The game itself was decent. We saw three home
runs, all Twins, and a complete game by Carlos Silva. The early
scoring took the crowd out of the game, however, besides a few loud
spots, it was pretty quiet for the rest of the time. Overall,
this isn't your traditional baseball stadium, but we still had a fun
time. Neal thinks its "goofy." Today marked the end of a long
stretch of East coast and Midwest baseball, Tomorrow, we will be
visiting our first National Park, the Badlands, and are both excited
for a change of pace. We decided to rank national parks as well,
so look out for these ratings! |
