Today, we left the Super 8 motel after
eating breakfast, and started on our way to St. Louis. The drive
wasn't too bad, and the view of the city and Arch is immediately seen
when arriving in the city. We managed to park about an
hour before the game started. The sea of Red could be seen from
blocks away, and it was evident that cards fans are very proud.
Busch is one of the newest stadiums we will see, and also one of the
nicest. The entire facade is red brick, and the stadium has a
very classy feel to it. There are a bunch of statues dedicated
to some of the Cardinal greats, including a huge one of Stan the Man.
Once inside, Busch was teeming with
pregame entertainment, as the fans come early to games. We even
got free popsicles! We went upstairs and sat behind home plate
for a view innings before moving down to get a closer look on the
third base line. Pujols hit two of the four home runs, and Cards
pitching managed to hold the Angels off later in the game. The
game ended, but not before some rain fell; we were again lucky to
avoid a rain out!
Afterwards, we went towards the Gateway
Arch. We entered small trams that resembled spaceships, and went
to the top of the arch. The view was great, but we were glad to
leave after just a small visit, as it was pretty cramped up there!
We went to a small park which had a great view of the arch, and a
fountain with pink water! After getting some dinner, we headed
off to meet some Lambda Chi Alpha brothers from the St. Louis College
of Pharmacy chapter. They were extremely hospitable, and showed
us a great time. We are heading out to dinner right now with two
guys we met, Nick Dryer and Chris Koentz, and then out to St. Louis
for the night! See you tomorrow at Kaufman Field in Kansas City! |
