After waking up, Nick took us to a pizza place, then to the top of Mount Washington. We
saw an amazing view of the three rivers of Pittsburgh, it was truly
awesome. We then said goodbye to Nick and made our way up to
Cleveland. The two and half hour drive wasn't that bad at all,
although we hit some rain outside Cleveland and that caused the
Indians to cancel batting practice. Once we arrived at the
stadium we were given a behind the scenes tour of the stadium by
Danielle Cherry. We saw the press box, media room, the luxury
areas of the park, batting cages, entrance to the club house, and of
course got to go on the field. Since there was no batting
practice, we were able to walk around at will and enjoy a solitary
time on the field. We each sat next to Jim Leyland, the Tigers'
coach, in the dugout, and got pictures with him.
Alon's friend from school Karim and his friend joined us for the
game. We ended up sitting two rows behind home plate, and were
able to stay there during the entire game; and what a game it was!
The Indians went down early, after the Tigers scored 2 runs in the
1st. After a 4 run inning, the Indians tied it back up in the
6th at 5 to 5, but then let off 4 runs in the 7th. Down 11 to 7
in the bottom of the 9th, it was up to the top of their lineup to try
to tie or win the game. After Sizemore grounded out to second,
the team exploded with 2 walks and 5 hits, including a home run and a
game winning single by Delluci that sparked a victory celebration on
the field.
We had a perfect view of the game; check out the
videos to the right. After the game, which was "$1 hot dog night"
and also "70s night," there was a spectacular fireworks show over the
left field scoreboard.
After leaving the game, we all went to a few bars in
Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and then back to Karim's house for the night.
Tomorrow, we finally get to have a late wake up, and then are headed
off to the Windy City for a few days, see you there... |
