Today, we headed out from Vegas with a long drive ahead
of us. Driving through the desert, we saw many stereotypical
features, but also many beautiful vistas. The classic dust
swirls and hay balls were periodically along the road, but we also saw
various colorful aspects of the desert, too. The reds, browns
and tans blended nicely with the rock formations and dirty green
bushes and cacti.
Immediately after we got to Lake Tahoe, we went onto the beach and took some
scenic pictures while skipping rocks. We then went to dinner at
a local establishment. Following dinner, we found a nice motel
for the night.
The next day we woke up and found a beach on the south side of Lake
Tahoe. We hung out there most of the day and had a chance to
kayak, swim, and relax on the magnificent Lake Tahoe. After
spending the day there, we drove to Squaw Valley for a dinner on top
of Squaw Mountain. The 12 minute cable car ride took us to the
beginning of the mountain and we ate a tremendous three course dinner.
After dinner, we walked around some more on the top, which also had a
small museum dedicated to the Winter Olympics that took place there.
After dinner, it was
time to head down and begin our drive back towards San Francisco...see
you there!
