Today, we woke up at 7 AM and saw that we had a message
from Fox 6 San Diego asking us to come down to their studio to be
interviewed on the morning show. We woke up real quick, showered
and drove to the studio. Once we got there, we were invited to
relax in the green room and wait for our segment to air. Alon
saw a table of food outside of the green room and assumed it was there
for the guests of the show... so he took a banana and ate it! As
it turned out, that table of food was actually a "prop" table that was
about to be aired as part of a segment about what foods one should eat
to reduce stress. Ironically, Alon's act created more stress for the
producers. So, I ate a prop, which was funny, and then we were were
called out to be interviewed next to our car!
After the interview, we went to a laundry mat and spent a few hours
cleaning our clothes before heading east. During the trip, we
realized that if we changed our route, we would be able to add Arches
and Canyonlands National Parks to our southwest loop. So, we
ended up driving about 750 miles to Richfield, Utah, took a quick stop
in Vegas, and also got to see the Hoover Dam! The Hoover Dam is
a massive, eerie structure, and probably had the most uncomfortable
weather we have ever experienced. Once we stepped out of the
car, a warm wind hit our faces and we started sweating about 2 minutes
later. We toured the top of the Dam and even found the spot
where Sector 7 stores Megatron from the movie Transformers [joke!].
After leaving the Dam, we stopped in Vegas for about
half an hour and passed by UNLV, which is about a 2 block walk from
The Strip. This made no sense to us. Vegas was definitely
less crowded than it had been during the July 4th week. We ended
up driving until about 2 AM to cap a 12 hour journey to Utah.
See you tomorrow at Arches and Canyonlands National Parks! |
